Variations in Gamakam usage exists in different schools and regions

The pitches of the end points of the oscillations may not coincide with the pitch of the note assigned

The skeletal notation now used allows the singer to interpret it according his own traditions and a given notation could be rendered in more than one way – all acceptable.
